Biography

Zahan Kapoor (born 11 March 1992) is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi films, television, and theatre. He hails from the illustrious Kapoor family, being the son of actor Kunal Kapoor and photographer Sheena Sippy. His paternal grandfather was the renowned actor and producer Shashi Kapoor, and his maternal grandfather is filmmaker Ramesh Sippy. Zahan's extended family includes prominent figures in Indian cinema, such as his second cousins Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor.

 

Early Life and Theatre Roots

Growing up in Mumbai, Zahan was immersed in the world of performing arts from a young age. He spent considerable time at Prithvi Theatre, established by his grandparents, which played a pivotal role in nurturing his passion for acting. Before venturing into films, he honed his theatre skills, making his debut in 2019 with Makarand Deshpande's play Pitaji Please. He continued his theatrical journey with the 2023 play Siachen, portraying the resilience of Indian soldiers stationed on the Siachen Glacier.

 

Film and Television Career

Zahan made his film debut with Hansal Mehta's Faraaz (2022), portraying Faraaz Hossain, a victim of the 2016 Dhaka attack. The film was showcased at the BFI London Film Festival and received critical acclaim.

 

In 2025, he starred as ASP Sunil Kumar Gupta in the Netflix series Black Warrant, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The series, based on real events at Tihar Jail, further established his reputation as a versatile actor.

 

Personal Interests

Beyond acting, Zahan is an accomplished polo player. In 2018, he was part of the Benaz Corp team that clinched the ARC Challenge Cup.
