Alok Nath

Biography

Alok Nath, born on 10 July 1956 in Khagaria, Bihar, is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi films and television. He made his film debut in Sir Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi (1982), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

He gained nationwide popularity with the television series Buniyaad in 1986. Later, he appeared in shows such as Rishtey (1999–2001) and popular Star Plus seria,ls including Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai, Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. His sister, Vineeta Malik, is also a television actress and played the character Bhairavi in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.

In late 2013, Alok Nath became a trending topic on social media due to memes and jokes based on the traditional and moral characters he often portrayed on screen. A case study titled The Curious Case of Alok Nath went viral in January 2014. Nath stated that he enjoyed most of the jokes made about him.

During the Indian #MeToo movement in 2018, Nath was accused of rape by writer-producer Vinta Nanda and of sexual misconduct by multiple women. Following the allegations, the Mumbai Police registered a rape case against him.
