Amalendu Chaudhary

Biography

Amalendu is a Mumbai, INDIA based cinematographer. He has been the director of photography for a variety of films ranging from indie films to big-budget feature films. He has been working as an independent cinematographer for more than a decade and has worked with 16&35mm films as well as the latest digital technology.

As of now Amalendu has done more than 25 films, in various genres and scales in the Marathi and Hindi film industries..and won various awards for his work. His work got noticed first in HARISHCHANDRACHI FACTORY , a film on Dadasaheb Phalke's adventurous journey to make India's first feature film... which was India's official Oscars 2010 entry. 2018 was an important year for him receiving MAHARASHTRA STATE AWARD and FILMFARE award for his Marathi films HAMPI and CYCLE . In the same year, 7 of his films got released in theaters among which STREE was a box-office super hit and NUDE created buzz in festivals. He began shooting CHHICHHORE with Mr. Nitesh Tiwari in the same year and later became a successful runner at the box office along with a NATIONAL AWARD for the best Hindi film. His last released film was ROOHI starring Rajkumar Rao, Janhavi Kapoor. Currently, he is working on FUKREY3 Dir by Mrigdeepsing Lamba. Produced by Excel Entertainment.

Amalendu considers cinematographers to be more of an artist, and storyteller than a technician and takes great pride in using the term 'Chalatchitrakaar' which means a painter who creates a motion picture to tell a story.
