Bunty Nagi is an Indian editor known for the 2017 Punjabi film Sardaar Saab. Directed by Amit Prashar, the movie stars Jackie Shroff, Juhi Chawla, Guggu Gill, Neetu Singh, Sardar Sohi, Shivender Mahal, and Yaad Grewal in the lead roles. His 2018 release includes Simmba. His 2019 release includes The Fakir Of Venice.

 

Bunty Nagi is an Indian-film editor who has served in a variety of movies including Bollywood and Punjabi cinema industry. Bunty was born on 25 June 1974. According to his LinkedIn profile, Bunty studied at St. Xavier’s High School. Bunty is an ardent devotee of Sikhism. He is married to Jasbeer Nagi and has two children. Bunty joined Just Right Productions in October 2001. Bunty got his first opportunity when Sanjay Gupta called him for his action flick “Kaante”. Although people claimed that the director borrowed its story from Quentin Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs”, Kaante fared well at the Box-Office.

 

In 2003, debutant director Rohit Shetty hired Bunty for his first movie “Zameen”, which revolved around the real-life incident of the IC814 Kandahar hijack. Later, several Bollywood producers took Bunty for their projects. His 2004 filmography consists of “Plan”, “Rakht”, “Musafir” and “Daag- Shades of Love” (Unreleased). In 2005, he edited Sangeeth Sivan’s adult comedy “Kyaa Kool Hai Hum”. Regardless of its criticism, “Kyaa Kool Hai Hum” turned out to be a surprise hit. In 2006, Bunty teamed up with Sanjay Gupta once again for the psychological thriller “Zinda”.

 

In 2007, Nagi had a breakthrough when he was the editor of Apoorva Lakhia’s “Shootout at Lokhandwala”. Journalists applauded Bunty for his commendable work in this movie. Shootout at Lokhandwala is a film adaptation of the 1991 encounter between Maya Dolas and his gangster associates. Bunty received a couple of nominations as well. In the same year, he worked with Anant Mahadevan on two projects: “The Train” and “Aggar: Passion Betrayal Terror”. Both the motion pictures flopped and they featured in several “worst Bollywood films” lists.

 

In 2010, he was a part of the editing team of “Pankh” under Sanjay Gupta’s production company White Feather. Pankh proved to be a controversial outing as it featured the protagonist naked in a pivotal scene. The director termed the clip as a crucial sequence as Pankh highlighted the topic of sexuality. Bunty was a member of the team of “Shootout at Wadala”, which was a cinematic representation of the Mumbai underworld crime scene in the 1990s. In 2014, he edited Sajid Khan’s “Humshakals”.

 

The film starred , Ram Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles. The critics slammed Humshakals for every aspect, from its acting to its plot. His latest Bollywood projects include “Action Jackson”, “Jazbaa”, “Coffee with D” and “Dilwale”. Bunty has also worked in Punjabi flicks such as “Ik Kudi Punjab Di”, “Daddy Cool Munde Fool” and “Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De".
