Christopher McQuarrie

Biography

During an illustrious career spanning over two decades, Christopher McQuarrie has carved a niche for himself in Hollywood - as an Oscar-winning screenwriter, producer, and filmmaker. A frequent collaborator of filmmaker Bryan Singer, McQuarrie debuted in cinema as a screenwriter, with the drama film Public Access (1993) directed by Singer.

Though the film failed to make an impression, their second collaboration, the cult classic neo-noir mystery The Usual Suspects (1995), became a critical and commercial success besides winning several prestigious accolades - including an Academy Award for Best Screenplay for McQuarrie.

Other notable movie credits as a screenwriter include the historical thriller Valkyrie (2008), the romantic thriller The Tourist (2010), and the sci-fi film Edge of Tomorrow (2014).

Since making his directorial debut with the crime-thriller The Way of the Gun (2000), McQuarrie has helmed a handful of blockbusters starring Tom Cruise, among which are the action thriller Jack Reacher (2012), the action spy movie Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) and its sequel Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018), which he also wrote and co-produced.
