Jay Vincent
Biography
Jayanan Vincent is the son of the veteran cinematographer-director A Vincent and the elder brother of cinematographer Ajayan Vincent. Watching his father use the camera to create stunning and striking visuals, Jayanan decided to follow in his father’s footsteps. He aspired to take up the mantle behind the camera.
Jayanan marked his debut as an apprentice in the camera department for the renowned Telugu film Jyothi (1976). He soon rose through the rungs and established his identity as one of the most sought-after cinematographers in the Indian cinema and he went on to work for numerous films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi industries.
Jayanan worked in the camera department of the films such as Secretary (1976), Adavi Ramudu (1977), Pagalil Oru Iravu (1979), Guru (1980), Idiyum Minnalum (1980), Mahayanam (1989), Premante Idera (1998), Bhalevadivi Basu (2001), Om Shanthi (2010), Teenmaar (2011), Gabbar Singh (2012), Balupu (2013), Gopala Gopala (2015), Sardar Gabbar Singh (2016), etc. In a career spanning over four decades, Jayanan worked for nearly 100 movies with some of the best directors, technicians, actors, and actresses.
His other projects include Power, Poga, Gopala Gopala, Sardaar Gabbar Singh, and Kurukshetra.
