Biography

Jitendra Joshi is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Marathi movies and theater and is popularly known for the role of `Saai` in the movie Duniyadaari (2013). The versatile actor is also a renowned writer and has written the famous Marathi song `Kombadi Palali` composed by Ajay Atul.

Jitendra is an established theater actor and has appeared in several successful plays such as Prem Naam Hai Mera .. Prem Chopta, Mukkam Post Bombilwadi, 2 Special, and Hamidabaicha Kothi.

The actor has appeared in many TV serials and has also been a host of a number of shows including Campus A Fair War, Home Minister (2004), Hasya Samrat (2009), and Marathi Paul Padate Pudhe (2011).

Jitendra made his acting debut with the Hindi movie Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye (2003). He then appeared in several Marathi movies such as Pak Pak Pakkak (2005), Golmal (2006), and Hai Kai Nai Kai (2009). In 2010 he portrayed the character of Narumama in the National Award-winning movie Shala directed by Sujay Dhake.

The year 2012 saw him essay the character of Saint Tukaram, a 17th-century saint, in the movie Tukaram, directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni of Bindhast fame. The movie went on to win the Best Film Award at the 2012 Screen Awards. 

 

One of the best performances of his career came with the movie Duniyadari (2013) directed by Sanjay Jadhav. Jeetendra essayed a negative character, Sainath, in the movie and was highly appreciated for his performance. 

 

The movie went on to break several box office records and was the highest-grossing Marathi movie at the time of its release. He also appeared in the Hindi movie Singham Returns (2014). 02

Jitendra played another negative character in the movie Baji (2014), which also marked the comeback of Shreyas Talpade in Marathi cinema after a gap of seven years. 

 

His subsequent releases include Kaakan (2015), Shasan (2015), and Poster Girl (2016). His 2020 release includes Choricha Mamla.

Jitendra has written lyrics for several songs in movies such as Pak Pak Pakaak (2005), Jatra (2006), Striker (2010), 4 Idiots (2012), and Aayna ka Bayna (2012).
