Johny Antony
Biography
Johny Antony is an Indian film director and actor who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema. Born in Changanassery, Kerala, he began his career as an assistant director and worked with filmmakers including Thulasidas, Taha, Kamal, and Jose Thomas before becoming an independent director.
Antony made his directorial debut with the comedy film C.I.D. Moosa (2003), starring Dileep. The film became one of the popular Malayalam comedies of its period and established him as a director. He subsequently directed films such as Kochi Rajavu (2005), Thuruppu Gulan (2006), Inspector Garud (2007), Cycle (2008), Ee Pattanathil Bhootham (2009), Masters (2012), Thappana (2012), Bhaiyya Bhaiyya (2014), and Thoppil Joppan (2016).
His films have covered comedy, action, thriller, and drama, and he has frequently collaborated with leading Malayalam actors, including Dileep and Mammootty. Thuruppu Gulan, starring Mammootty, was one of his early commercial successes.
After establishing himself as a director, Johny Antony also became a familiar face as an actor. He made his acting debut with Shikkari Shambhu (2018) and subsequently appeared in films such as Drama (2018), Joseph (2018), Ganagandharvan (2019), Varane Avashyamund (2020), and Home (2021).
