Biography
A multiple award-winning actor, Rajendra Kumar was one of the most successful actors in Bollywood. Having started his career with Patanga (1949) where he played a small role, Rajendra in his illustrious career spanning over four decades starred in more than 80 films as well as produced movies starring his son Kumar Gaurav.
A few of his most notable film credits include Mother India (1957), Gharana (1961), Ayee Milan Ki Bela (1964), Dil Ek Mandir (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Love Story (1981), and Insaaf Ka Khoon (1991). Apart from acting, Rajendra Kumar has produced films like Love Story (1981), Naam (1986), Phool (1993) and The Jungle Book (1994).
For his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, the Government of India honored Rajendra Kumar with the coveted Padma Shri in 1969. Rajendra Kumar`s glorious career came to an end when he succumbed to cancer on 12th July 1999, just a few days before his 70th birthday.
