Ramana Gogula
Biography
Ramana Kumar Gogula, popularly known as Ramana Gogula, was born on June 13 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his B.Tech from Andhra University, an M.Tech in Solar Energy from IIT Kharagpur, and an MS in Computer Science from Louisiana State University. At the age of 17, he formed his own rock and roll band in Vizag, marking the beginning of his musical journey.
Career:
Ramana Gogula made his debut as a music director with the Telugu film Premante Idera (1998) starring Venkatesh. He gained widespread recognition for his work in films such as Thammudu (1999), Badri (2000), Yuvaraju (2001), Johnny (2003), and Lakshmi (2006). Known for his melodic compositions and contemporary style, his music resonated with audiences and contributed to the success of these films.
In 1996, he released the indie pop album Aye Laila under the band name Misty Rhythms, which became a chartbuster on MTV and Channel [V] in India. After a hiatus from the film industry, Ramana made a notable comeback by singing the song "Godari Gattu" for the film Sankranthiki Vasthunnam (2024), marking his return to playback singing after 18 years.
Entrepreneurial Ventures:
Beyond music, Ramana Gogula is an accomplished entrepreneur. He is the Vice President of Clean Technology Innovation at Stanley Black & Decker and a venture partner at Anthill Ventures. He has founded startups such as Liqwid Krystal, an education technology company, and Earthen Glow, which provides off-grid solar lighting solutions to rural areas.
