Ryan Kavanaugh is an American film producer, financier, and entrepreneur recognized for reshaping Hollywood’s approach to film financing and production. Born on December 4, 1974, in Los Angeles, California, Kavanaugh grew up with a strong interest in business and entertainment.

He attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he studied business management before embarking on a career that would blend finance with filmmaking.

Kavanaugh founded Relativity Media in 2004, a company that revolutionized the film industry by applying data analytics and financial modeling to predict a movie’s profitability.

This innovative approach allowed him to structure deals that minimized risk while maximizing creative potential. Under his leadership, Relativity Media financed, produced, or distributed more than 200 films, including major hits such as The Social Network (2010), Limitless (2011), The Fighter (2010), and Mamma Mia! (2008). Many of these films received critical acclaim and numerous awards.

Beyond traditional filmmaking, Kavanaugh expanded into digital media, sports management, and television production. Despite facing financial challenges and controversies related to Relativity Media’s bankruptcy and restructuring, Kavanaugh continued to pursue new ventures in media and entertainment. He later co-founded Triller, a social media and video-sharing platform, further demonstrating his adaptability in the evolving digital landscape.
