Sanjeev Shankar

Biography

Sanjeev Shankar is an Indian cinematographer known primarily for his work in Malayalam cinema. He has built a long career as a director of photography, contributing to films across action, drama, thriller, and comedy genres. He is also credited as Sanjeev Sankar in some productions.

 

 

Career

Sanjeev Shankar began his cinematography career in the 1990s and became associated with several prominent Malayalam productions. Among his early credits were Journalist (1993), Gandhari, Janam, Kadal, Street, Indraprastham and Lelam (1997).

He continued to work extensively during the late 1990s and 2000s, serving as cinematographer on films such as Summer in Bethlehem, Meenathil Thalikettu, Pathram, Narasimham, Dubai, Praja, Shivam, Thandavam, Vamanapuram Bus Route, Maampazhakkaalam and Thommanum Makkalum.

 

 

Rajamanikyam

One of Sanjeev Shankar's best-known projects is Rajamanikyam (2005), directed by Anwar Rasheed and starring Mammootty as Bellary Raja. Shankar served as the film's cinematographer, helping create the visual style of the commercially successful action-comedy.

He subsequently worked with Mammootty on films including Mayavi (2007), Hello (2007), Pothan Vava, The Don and Parunthu.

 

 

Later Work

Shankar continued his career across Malayalam and other South Indian productions. His credits include Paappi Appachaa, Janakan, Penpattanam, April Fool, Best of Luck, Nadodi Mannan, Chennai Koottam, Serndhu Polama and Vaigai Express.
