Vinod Khanna

Biography

Vinod Khanna was an Indian actor, producer, and politician, born to Kishanchand Khanna, a textile, dyes, and chemical businessman. He attended St. Mary`s School, in Mumbai and in 1957, the family moved to Delhi, where he was schooled at Delhi Public School. He graduated with a degree in commerce, from Sydenham College, Nashik.

He made his debut in the industry as an antagonist in the movie, Man Ka Meet (1968), but got his break as the solo lead in the movie Hum Tum Aur Woh (1971). He received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for the film Haath Ki Safai (1974), which saw him rise to fame. 

 

He was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for Hera Pheri (1977) and Muqaddar Ka Sikander (1978) and received Filmfare Best Actor for the movie Qurbani(1980). Vinod Khanna further starred in movies like Chandni (1989), Khoon Ka Karz (1991), Humshakals (1992), Ekka Raja Rani (1994), Dus (1997) and Kranti (2002). 

 

He was recently seen in films like Godfather (2007), Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), Dabangg 2 (2012), Ramaiyya Vastavaiya (2013), Hero (2015) and Dilwale (2015). In his illustrious film career, he has worked in 145 movies. On 27th April 2017, the veteran actor passed away, after battling cancer.
