The narrative follows the young heroine, Lyra Belacqua, and her shape-shifting daemon, Pantalaimon (Pan), as they embark on a crucial quest to the Arctic (the North). Their mission is to find and rescue children who have been kidnapped by a mysterious organization, ultimately leading them to a pivotal meeting with Lyra's uncle, Lord Asriel.
