Riteish Deshmukh

Biography

Riteish Deshmukh is an Indian actor, producer, and architect who appears in Bollywood films. He is the son of Late. Vilasrao Deshmukh, the former Union Minister for Science, Technology and Earth Sciences, Government of India, and the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

 

 Riteish debuted with K. Vijaya Bhaskar's Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003) with his later-to-be wife Genelia D'Souza, but it was not until 2004 that he achieved success, when he appeared in the commercially successful comedy, Masti and the critically acclaimed Bardaasht. 

 

His work in Masti was nominated for several awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor category. 

 

He later starred in successful films such as Heyy Babyy, Dhamaal, House Full. Double Dhamaal, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and Housefull 2, Humshakals and Ek Villian.

In January 2013, Riteish made his debut as a film producer with the Marathi success Balak Palak, directed by Ravi Jadhav. The following year he made his acting debut in Marathi cinema with the action film Lai Bhaari.

 

Ritesh got his architectural degree from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies. He later went abroad for a year to practice with a firm abroad, came back to India, and has been designing since then. 

 

He owns a firm called Evolutions, which is an architectural and interior designing firm, which he is very passionate about.

 

Son of the Chief Minister of Maharastra.

 

Younger brother Dheeraj is married to Jacky Bhagnani's elder sister Honey.

 

He completed his education at G. D. Somani High School and Kamala Raheja School of Architecture in Mumbai.

 

A major WWE wrestling fan. His favorite star is Bret The Hitman Hart.

 

Starred in Ram Gopal Verma's production-shelved film " Loot" directed by Prawal Raman. Starring Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Ayesha Takia. The reason it was shelved was because another in-production film “ Rokda”, had the same exact storyline. Rokda was also shelved.

 

He worked in New York City in an architectural firm after graduation while studying acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.

 

Starred in V. Shantaram's shelved Home Production film. The film was to be produced by V Shantaram's grandson Chaitanya Shantaram. Co-starring Anil Kapoor. Riteish was to play the villain. This was in 2007.

 

Was holidaying with Subash Ghai in London during the shooting of Yaadien. Cinematographer Kabir Lal met Ritesh on the sets and offered him his first movie. Ritesh was shocked as he had not told anyone he wanted to be an actor.

 

Starred in Vashu Bhagnani's shelved film “ Bisaat”. Starring Zayed Khan (Replaced Arjun Rampal) Esha Deol, and Ritesh Deshmukh. Directed by Satish Kaushik.

 

In 2009, Ram Gopal Varma announced a 3D horror movie titled "Warning" Starring Ritesh Deshmukh. The film was shelved for unknown reasons.
